QCAD Regional

CONCEPT // Promotional Guide // November 2023

The QCAD Regional Guide is here to combat assumptions surrounding the validity of
art and design as a career path.

This guide will work in conjunction with the existing Art and Design High School Program,
to encourage students from rural towns in Queensland to pursue creative degrees.

This project required a guide that had a clear layout detailing the different degree pathways as well as a section of frequently asked questions to provide a sense of comfort to students who may be feeling unsure of what to expect.

  • The Queensland College of Art and Design engages with high schools across Queensland to nurture emerging creative talent. This program allows students to learn hands-on from leading researchers and industry experts.

  • There is a lack of engagement from high school students in regional Queensland when it comes to art and design. The task is to create a promotional guide that will encourage them to pursue creative pathways by designing a booklet that appeals to them.

  • This brief was difficult for me to wrap my head around simply because I am a self-proclaimed "city girl". Therefore, I wasn't too sure what would appeal to rural students. Thankfully, the main point to hit was typesetting and legibility. This guide needed to be easy to read and understand, not just for the students but for the parents. Because of this, I stuck to a design that was clean and simple, focussing more on the type and layout.
